First Visit
Transforming your smile starts with a conversation. Let’s Talk.
Thank you for considering Wilk & Wilk Orthodontics for your orthodontic treatment. When you walk through our doors, we are confident that you will find that there is something special about the Doctors, the staff and the atmosphere in our office.
During this 60 minute appointment, we will take a preliminary digital x-ray and/or photos to aid us in determining the nature of the orthodontic problem. These will be discussed during your meeting with Drs. Wilk and a Treatment Coordinator. We will listen to your concerns to better appreciate your individual expectations and then we will discuss any orthodontic issues. Then we brainstorm. Then we explore the options. Then we plan.
There are the 3 possible outcomes at this visit:
- No treatment is needed.
- Treatment is needed, but not at this time.
- Treatment is needed at this time.
If treatment is not required at this time but may be required in the future, a future visit will be scheduled so that the appropriate growth, tooth eruption, or other factors can occur.
If treatment is needed at this time, we will discuss the treatment options, the length of treatment, the consequences of not completing treatment, the costs involved and the financial arrangements available.
We hope you enjoy your visit with us!
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE FIRST VISIT?
Plan the work. Work the plan.
If a patient is ready to begin treatment, we will schedule a visit to take orthodontic records that will include: digital orthodontic x-rays, an intraoral 3D scan or impressions of the teeth, and a bite registration. Orthodontic records allow the Doctors to determine the most appropriate course of treatment for each patient. Depending on the nature and severity of the orthodontic problem, treatment may begin the same day these records are completed or may start at a later date after a second meeting with the Doctor to discuss the treatment plan or treatment options in more detail.
